Basketball Game Preview: Portland Christian Royals vs. Regis Rams

The Portland Christian Royals will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Regis Rams at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Portland Christian will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.

Portland Christian is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They walked away with a 76-67 win over Riverdale on Saturday. Given the Royals' advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while the Mavericks are ranked 125th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Regis has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They lost to Valley Catholic on the road by a 77-58 margin on Saturday. The contest marked the Rams' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Portland Christian's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-0. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Regis, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-2.

Portland Christian came up short against Regis in their previous matchup back in January of 2016, falling 53-43. Can Portland Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
