Basketball Recap: Jefferson Mustangs vs. Brackenridge Eagles
Jefferson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a 62-35 loss at the hands of the Brackenridge Eagles. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 68-39 back in December of 2024.
Brackenridge's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sky Lopez, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 23 boards. Lopez has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ashlynn Cortinas, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 20 rebounds.
Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 11-18. As for Brackenridge, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-13 record this season.
Jefferson will host Sam Houston at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Sam Houston will roll in looking for their 15th straight victory, something Jefferson surely won't give up without a fight. As for Brackenridge, they will venture away from home to face off against Seguin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Brackenridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.8 points per game this season.
