Softball Recap: Pike County Comes Up Short

Pike County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against the Opp Bobcats, falling 10-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 back in March.

Pike County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kailia Beacham, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Pike County's defeat dropped their record down to 3-17. As for Opp, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season.

Pike County will be playing at home against Straughn at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Opp, they will take on Headland in a tournament on Tuesday. The Bobcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
