Basketball Recap: Freer Skates Past Premont with Ease

Freer posted their biggest win since January 26, 2024 on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Premont Cowboys 69-29. That's more bragging rights for the Buckaroos, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Leading Freer to victory were Dehondre Hayes and Ayden Ramirez. Hayes went 8 for 18 on his way to 20 points in addition to eight boards and five assists, while Ramirez shot 4-for-5 from deep and almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. The dominant performance also gave Ramirez a new career-high in assists (seven). Joesph Serna was another key player, putting up eight points.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Freer was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Freer pushed their record up to 10-11 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Premont, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Freer will face off against La Villa at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Freer is facing La Villa at the right time seeing as La Villa is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Premont, they will square off against Ben Bolt at 6:30 p.m. on January 17th.
