Baseball Recap: South Mountain Jaguars vs. Washington Rams        
        
		
            
 South Mountain was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight  loss. They fell just short of the Washington Rams by a score of  12-11. The result was an unpleasant reminder to South Mountain of the  14-7 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in April of 2023.
  Greg Salas made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and  went 3-for-4 with a  home run, three  RBI,  and two  runs.  Paul Gutierrez-Valencia was another key contributor,  scoring two  runs and  stealing two bases while going 4-for-4.
 Even though they lost, South Mountain was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Washington only posted a  batting average of  .182.
 On Washington's side,  Michael Alpista and  Austin Ashford did most of the damage at the plate:  Alpista  scored two  runs and  stole two bases while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances, while  Ashford  scored two  runs and  stole two bases while  getting on base  in four of his five plate appearances.
 South Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 2-18. As for Washington, their victory  ended  a  five-game drought at home  and  bumped them up to 2-15.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Mountain will take on North Canyon at 3:45  p.m.  on Friday. North Canyon is coming into the  matchup with four straight  wins on the road,  so South Mountain will have to stop a  squad with plenty of momentum. As for Washington, they will look to defend their home field  on Friday against Sierra Linda at 3:45  p.m.
