Football Game Preview: Kingfisher Yellowjackets vs. Purcell Dragons + How To Watch

The Kingfisher Yellowjackets will head out to square off against the Purcell Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kingfisher has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 122 points over their last three matchups.

Kingfisher lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Pauls Valley, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's contest. The Yellowjackets took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 42-0 victory over the Panthers. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Yellowjackets just coasted through the last quarter.

Kingfisher's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Brett Calamateo, who rushed for 64 yards and one TD, and Kasen Blair, who gained 74 total yards and two touchdowns. Those 64 rushing yards gave Calamateo a new career-high. Brody Boeckman was in the mix as well, providing Kingfisher with one score.

Meanwhile, Purcell lost 42-21 to Plainview on Friday. The Dragons have struggled against the Indians recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Kingfisher pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.3 points on average over those games. As for Purcell, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Kingfisher was able to grind out a solid win over Purcell when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 26-13. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Yellowjackets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
