Preview: Estero Wildcats vs. Cape Coral Seahawks
Estero has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Cape Coral Seahawks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Estero came up short against Lehigh and fell 68-57. While losing is never fun, Estero can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 469th, while Lehigh is ranked 179th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Brady Knutson, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds. He hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Lee Eckman, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Cape Coral entered their tilt with Lemon Bay with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Cape Coral blew past Lemon Bay 70-46. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Cape Coral has posted since December 15, 2023.
Estero now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Cape Coral, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.
Estero didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Cape Coral in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 70-66 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Estero since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
