Volleyball Recap: South Bend Riley Wildcats vs. Whitko Wildcats
South Bend Riley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Whitko. South Bend Riley was not able to make up for their loss to Whitko from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.
The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-15.
Whitko found their leader in sophomore Meredith Hindbaugh, who had six digs and four aces. Hindbaugh has been hot, having posted two or more aces the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Alexa Culp, who had five kills, four digs, and two aces.
South Bend Riley's defeat dropped their record down to 8-28. As for Whitko, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-14 record this season.
South Bend Riley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against South Bend Career Academy on the 11th. As for Whitko, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Fort Wayne South Side on the 11th.
