St. Johns and Portland are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The St. Johns Redwings will face off against the Portland Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, St. Johns turned things around against Belding on Wednesday. They strolled past the Black Knights with points to spare, taking the game 67-53. Given the Redwings' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while the Black Knights are ranked 240th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Portland came tearing into Wednesday's match with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.1 points), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Bulldogs 68-30. The Raiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 games by 20 points or more this season.

Portland's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.3 points on average over those games. As for St. Johns, their win bumped their record up to 17-6.

St. Johns might still be hurting after the 54-34 defeat they got from Portland in their previous meeting last Tuesday. Can St. Johns avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
