Volleyball Recap: Old Bethel Christian Comes Up Short at Home Against John Paul the Great Academy

Old Bethel Christian unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the John Paul the Great Academy Guardians on Friday, falling 3-0. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.

While Old Bethel Christian was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into John Paul the Great Academy's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-18, 25-22.

Among those leading the charge was Emily Johnson, who had eight aces. Autumn Terrance was another key player, getting six assists and four aces.

John Paul the Great Academy's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Old Bethel Christian will take on rival Midstate Homeschool at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be Old Bethel Christian's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. Meanwhile, John Paul the Great Academy is set to square off against their familiar foe First Baptist Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
