Softball Game Preview: Southwestern Heights Mustangs vs. Scott Beavers

Southwestern Heights hasn't had much luck against Scott recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Mustangs will square off against the Beavers at 4:00 p.m. Southwestern Heights' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Scott's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Southwestern Heights is headed into the match having just suffered their closest loss since April 15th on Monday. They fell just short of Liberal by a score of 5-3. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Scott was not able to break out of their rough patch last Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 18-10 to Goodland. Even if the Beavers couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Crissa Irvin was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Felker, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

Scott's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Southwestern Heights, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-3.

Southwestern Heights suffered a grim 17-3 defeat to Scott when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
