Baseball Game Preview: Organ Mountain Knights vs. Alamogordo Tigers

Organ Mountain is 9-1 against Alamogordo since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Knights will look to defend their home field against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Organ Mountain has three straight victories, Alamogordo has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Organ Mountain's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They walked away with a 4-0 win over Gadsden.

Organ Mountain got a great performance from Brennan McNiece as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave McNiece a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Ryo Rivera was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. Devyn Garces was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Alamogordo fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Centennial on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 4-3.

Alamogordo saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kelan Wall, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Alamogordo's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Organ Mountain, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4-1.

Alamogordo's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Organ Mountain hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. It's a different story for Alamogordo, though, as they've only averaged .243. Will they be able to contain Organ Mountain's hitters?

Everything went Organ Mountain's way against Alamogordo in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Organ Mountain made off with a 9-0 win. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
