On Thursday Riley Ward pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The effort also marked the fewest walks (zero) Ward has had since back in April of 2024. As if that's not impressive enough, the pitching appearance was her fourth in a row with less than two walks. This season, she has an ERA of 2.96 over 23.7 innings pitched.

Looking ahead, Ward and Manteca will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Oakdale at 4:00 p.m. The Buffaloes haven't beaten the Mustangs recently, having gone 0-9 since April of 2021.
