Volleyball Recap: Basalt Falls to Glenwood Springs in First Game of Season

Basalt unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost 3-0 to the Glenwood Springs Demons on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Longhorns in their meetings with the Demons: they've now lost three in a row.

Basalt took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-5, 25-11, 25-21.

Tahlia Ferguson paced Basalt's offense, picking up three kills. Ferguson got some help from Lilly Archibeque and her six assists. Elizabeth Camunez controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Glenwood Springs' win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Coming up, Basalt will square off against Roaring Fork at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Glenwood Springs, they will head out on the road to take on St. Mary's Academy at 1:00 p.m. on September 6.
