Softball Recap: Horseshoe Bend Comes Up Short

Wilder hit Horseshoe Bend with a four-run first inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mustangs fell 11-6 to the Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-8 on April 2nd.

Tiahna Quijas made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Vilate Wilson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Horseshoe Bend and nudges their season record down to 2-6. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Wilder, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-5 record this season.

Coincidentally, Horseshoe Bend and Wilder will both be playing Idaho City the next time they take the field. The Mustangs will host the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Wildcats will head out to face them at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
