Softball Recap: Horseshoe Bend Takes a Loss

The home team had come away the winner the last six times Horseshoe Bend and Wilder had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Mustangs fell 11-6 to the Wildcats on Wednesday. The Mustangs have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Horseshoe Bend got a good showing from Kimber Jones, who struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. With that strong performance, Jones is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, Tiahna Quijas made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Jocelyn Hailey was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Horseshoe Bend's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Wilder, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Coincidentally, Horseshoe Bend and Wilder will both be playing Idaho City the next time they take the field. The Mustangs will host the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Wildcats will head out to face them at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
