Soccer Game Preview: Pine View vs. Cedar

The Pine View Panthers will venture away from home to square off against the Cedar Reds at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Pine View managed to slip by Desert Hills the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Panthers lost 4-1 to the Thunder on Monday. The matchup was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but Pine View couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, Cedar fell victim to Dixie and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They came up short against the Flyers, falling 7-0. While losing is never fun, Cedar can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah soccer rankings (they are ranked 76th, while Dixie are ranked 13th).

This is the second loss in a row for Cedar and nudges their season record down to 3-9. As for Pine View, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.

Pine View came out on top in a nail-biter against Cedar in their previous matchup on April 1st, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
