Basketball Recap: Ripon Falls Short of Casa Roble in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Ripon can now relate to. They lost 82-56 to the Casa Roble Rams on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 491st, while the Rams are ranked 183rd).

When it comes to explaining why Ripon lost, don't look at Marcus Madoski. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 27 points and 12 boards. Madoski is becoming a predictor of Ripon's success: when he posts at least eight rebounds the team is 15-6 (and 3-6 when he doesn't). Logan Lefebvre was another key player, putting up eight points along with seven assists and six boards.

Casa Roble's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Benny Ambriz led the charge by on his way to 27 points. The game was Ambriz's fifth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Moses Oginni, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds.

Ripon's defeat dropped their record down to 18-12. As for Casa Roble, their win was their 13th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 26-4.

Ripon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Casa Roble, they will square off against Ripon Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Casa Roble's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 15 contests.
