Basketball Recap: Platte County Comes Up Short

Platte County fought the good fight in their overtime match against Belton on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of Belton by a score of 74-71. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (56), Platte County still had to take the loss.

Belton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gaven Blaise out in front who posted 17 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. Blaise also grabbed three steals, which is notable because Belton is 4-1 when he posts at least three steals, but 6-12 otherwise. Caleb Campbell was another key player, dropping a double-double with 16 points and ten boards.

Platte County has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.6 points over those games. The victory was the third in a row for Belton, bringing their record for this year to 10-13.
