Baseball Recap: Franklin Drops Season-High Score on Clinton-Massie

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Franklin). They put the hurt on the Clinton-Massie Falcons with a sharp 22-15 win on Monday. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by exactly seven runs.

Aiden Standifer made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Standifer was even better at the plate, going 2-for-6 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. He has become a key player for Franklin: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-8 otherwise.

In other batting news, Connor Monk was a standout: he went 3-for-6 with one home run, five runs, and two stolen bases. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Eyink, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.

Franklin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Franklin's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-8. As for Clinton-Massie, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Franklin will host Chaminade Julienne Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Clinton-Massie, they will be playing at home against Batavia at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 9.5 runs per game this season.
