Football Recap: Santa Margarita Skates Past Highland with Ease

Santa Margarita never let their opponents score on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Highland Bulldogs 49-0. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their 13-point performance the contest before.

Santa Margarita can attribute much of their success to Madi Lam, who threw for 141 yards and two TDs while completing 85.7% of her passes. The dominant performance also gave Lam a new career-high in passer rating (165.2). Fiona Agius made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Santa Margarita didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. It was a group effort, with five picking up one apiece. Jessica Collazo got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The victory was the third in a row for Santa Margarita, bringing their record up to 3-0. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 36.3 points this season. As for Highland, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Santa Margarita didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 41-7 victory against Beckman on the 19th. As for Highland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 12-6 defeat against Hart on the 19th.
