Softball Recap: Reedsville Comes Up Short

If Reedsville was feeling good fresh off their 14-7 takedown of Hilbert on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Kiel Raiders on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Raiders: they've now lost four in a row.

Kayla Bubolz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on 12 hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Reedsville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josee Busse, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases. Clare Delsman also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Reedsville's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Kiel, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-11 record.

Reedsville and Kiel could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. The Panthers will face off against Valders at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday with a big rank disadvantage (230 vs. 58). Meanwhile, Kiel (ranked 219th) will meet Chilton (ranked 87th) at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
