Baseball Game Preview: Norwell Knights vs. East Noble Knights

Norwell are taking a road trip to take on East Noble at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. East Noble took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Norwell, who comes in off a win.

Norwell came out on top against Adams Central on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fourth inning. The Knights put the hurt on the Flying Jets with a sharp 10-0 win. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by seven runs or more this season.

Ryne Thornton tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Drew Graft, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Drew Jolley was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Norwell was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Adams Central only posted a batting average of .000.

Meanwhile, East Noble came up short against Leo on Tuesday, falling 9-3.

East Noble saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ian Ramey, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one double.

Norwell has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for East Noble, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.

Norwell took their win against East Noble in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 8-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for Norwell since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
