Basketball Recap: Taft Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Taft, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top against the George West Longhorns by a score of 64-53 on Wednesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 72-59 back in December of 2024.

George West lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Teagan Collins, who went 7 for 16 on his way to 20 points. What's more, Collins also racked up four boards, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Tristen Blevins was another key player, dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.

Taft pushed their record up to 16-12 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.5 points per game. As for George West, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-12 record this season.

Coincidentally, Taft and George West will both be playing Odem the next time they take the court. George West will host Odem at 6:15 p.m. on Friday, while Taft will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
