Softball Game Preview: Lincoln Mustangs vs. University Red Devils

The Lincoln Mustangs will head out on the road to square off against the University Red Devils at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Lincoln's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lowell on Thursday. That makes it the first time this season the Mustangs have let down their home crowd.

Ventura Van-Zandt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, University also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Redwood Christian by a score of 21-17. The Red Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

University's loss dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Lincoln, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7.
