Football Recap: Lakewood Gets the Win

Lakewood's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They pulled ahead with a 15-14 photo finish over the Fairmont Golden Tornadoes. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Leopards have posted since September 20, 2024.

It was another big night for Calvin Lacewell Jr, who rushed for 82 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

The victory got Lakewood back to even at 2-2. As for Fairmont, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakewood will take on North Duplin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rebels will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last. As for Fairmont, they will be playing at home against St. Pauls at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs' defense has only allowed 13.8 points per game this season, so the Golden Tornadoes' offense will have their work cut out for them.
