Football Game Preview: Wimberley Texans vs. La Vega Pirates

The Wimberley Texans will square off against the La Vega Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wimberley will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.

Wimberley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They had just enough and edged Sinton out 36-33. Wimberley's win was all the more impressive since the Pirates were averaging only 14.93 points allowed on the season.

The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Cody Stoever and Triston Handson. Stoever had a great game and rushed for 146 yards and three touchdowns. Meanwhile, Handson was balling out in the loss, throwing for 254 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 49 yards and two touchdowns.

Sealy typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday La Vega proved too difficult a challenge. They enjoyed a cozy 48-30 victory over the Tigers. The win was nothing new for the Pirates as they're now sitting on nine straight.

Wimberley better keep an eye on Bryson Roland. He was instrumental in La Vega's win, rushing for 301 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 13.7 yards per carry. Roland showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 67 yards. Kourtney Parr was in the mix as well, providing La Vega with two touchdowns.

La Vega pushed their record up to 11-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.9 points per game. As for Wimberley, their record now sits at 12-2.
