Volleyball Recap: Wilmington's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

After a string of five wins, Wilmington's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of the Pontiac Indians by a score of 2-1. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Indians earlier this season, when they won 2-0.

Wilmington started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The match finished with set scores of 16-25, 25-22, 25-17.

Sami Liaromatis and Addison Billingsley certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Liaromatis had 20 digs and one assist, while Billingsley had 17 assists and ten digs. Liaromatis is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 13 or more in each of the last five games she's played.

Morgan Dewald had an outrageously good game for Pontiac as she had 11 digs and one block. Araceli Serna was another key player, getting 15 digs and two assists.

Wilmington's defeat dropped their record down to 28-6. As for Pontiac, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 28-8 record this season.

As of now, neither Wilmington nor Pontiac have any future games scheduled.
