Soccer Game Preview: Rialto vs. Fontana

The Rialto Knights will be taking part in a tournament against the Fontana Steelers at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Fontana will be up against a hot Rialto squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was Rialto who was credited with the win on Monday. Rialto got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to Bloomington's three. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while the Bruins are ranked 415th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Rialto's one-goal win came courtesy of Cesar Castaneda, who's now up to three this season.

Fontana's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They won by a goal and slipped past San Gorgonio 1-0. That's two games straight that the Steelers have won by just one goal.

Rialto's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-7-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored eight goals over those three matchups. As for Fontana, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-5-1.
