Baseball Recap: Cuero Picks Up Second Consecutive Victory

While Cuero's victory against Schulenburg wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Gobblers never let the Shorthorns get on the board and left with a 1-0 win on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Gobblers have won by just one run.

Not much got past Eli Garrett, who gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks to keep Schulenburg off the board. Garrett has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cuero saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Christian Ferrier, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Walker Dietze also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Cuero and bumps their season record up to 4-3. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Schulenburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-2.

Coming up, Cuero will take on Calhoun in a tournament on Friday. As for Schulenburg, they will be taking part in a tournament against Boling at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
