Softball Game Preview: Dieterich Movin Maroons vs. Farina South Central Cougars

Dieterich is 0-10 against Farina South Central since April of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Movin Maroons will head out to take on the Cougars at 4:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Dieterich took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Oblong, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Movin Maroons came out on top in a nail-biter against the Panthers on Tuesday, sneaking past 8-6. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Movin Maroons as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Farina South Central posted their closest victory since April 17, 2024 on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past Altamont 2-1.

Lauren Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Farina South Central saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaitlyn Swift, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Perci Reid also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

The win got Farina South Central back to even at 4-4. As for Dieterich, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Dieterich suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Farina South Central in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Movin Maroons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
