Softball Recap: Jeannette Extends Winning Streak to Four

Jeannette extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 6-3 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Serra Catholic Eagles. For the Jayhawks, this counts as revenge for the 15-0 win the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2022.

Grace Stein spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Jeannette saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mia Sarpolis, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one double.

As for Serra Catholic, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-5. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Serra Catholic's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Kelly Morrissey gave up only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up 13 Ks.

Coming up, Jeannette will face off against Greensburg Central Catholic at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Serra Catholic, they will square off against Monessen at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
