Baseball Game Preview: Burgettstown Blue Devils vs. McGuffey Highlanders

The Burgettstown Blue Devils are taking a road trip to square off against the McGuffey Highlanders at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Burgettstown will be strutting in after a victory while McGuffey will be coming in after a defeat.

Burgettstown took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Fort Cherry by a score of 5-2.

Burgettstown saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Roach, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, McGuffey suffered their biggest loss since March 31st on Tuesday. They lost 8-0 to Seton LaSalle. The defeat continues a trend for the Highlanders in their meetings with the Rebels: they've now lost four in a row.

Burgettstown is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for McGuffey, their loss dropped their record down to 8-13-1.

Burgettstown couldn't quite get it done against McGuffey when the teams last played back in May of 2025 as they fell 5-2. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
