Softball Game Preview: Our Lady of Mercy Monarchs vs. Eastridge Lancers

The Our Lady of Mercy Monarchs will take on the Eastridge Lancers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Our Lady of Mercy's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last five contests.

If Our Lady of Mercy beats Eastridge with 14 runs on Wednesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. The Monarchs never let Irondequoit get on the board and left with a 14-0 win on Monday. Considering the Monarchs have won seven games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Eastridge, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Pittsford 4-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Our Lady of Mercy is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Eastridge, they pushed their record up to 7-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
