The Parrish Community Bulls are taking a road trip to square off against the Bradenton Christian Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Parrish Community is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12 runs per game this season.
Things were looking good for Parrish Community after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 14-4 to IMG Academy Black. The loss was the Bulls' first of the season.
Parrish Community got a good showing from Vince Barry, who pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Barry has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Parrish Community saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Cripe, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Ja'Brien Quiles also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Bradenton Christian never got on the board in their matchup on Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Lakewood Ranch Preparatory Academy on Friday. They blew past the Eagles 11-1. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won three in a row.
Waylon Moore was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Horne, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.
Bradenton Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .593. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lakewood Ranch Preparatory Academy only posted an OBP of .118.
Bradenton Christian's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Parrish Community, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Parrish Community has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Bradenton Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Parrish Community's way against Bradenton Christian in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, as Parrish Community made off with a 13-0 victory. Does Parrish Community have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bradenton Christian turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
