Softball Game Preview: Potter Valley Bearcats vs. Willits Wolverines

Potter Valley is 0-7 against Willits since March of 2018 but things could change on Tuesday. The Bearcats will look to defend their home field against the Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. Potter Valley has given up an average of 13.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Potter Valley is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 15th straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They came up short against Laytonville, falling 16-2.

Meanwhile, Willits got themselves on the board against Tomales on Friday, but Tomales never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Braves with a sharp 10-0 win. Considering the Wolverines have won six games by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Lisa Arkelian, who gave up just a hit and racked up 15 Ks to keep Tomales off the board. Arkelian has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Ava Holmen was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Addie Jones was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

The victory got Willits back to even at 8-8. As for Potter Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.
