Football Recap: Middletown Takes a Tough Playoff Loss + How To Watch

Middletown and Saratoga Springs squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Middletown had to settle for second. They fell 28-18 to the Blue Streaks. While losing is never fun, the Middie Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while the Blue Streaks are ranked 12th).

Despite the loss, Middletown still got an impressive performance from Aiden Barbosa, who picked up 162 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Another pass catcher making a difference was Ryan Guevara, who gained 108 total yards.

Benjamin Coryea was his usual excellent self, rushing for 133 yards and three scores for Saratoga Springs.

This is the second loss in a row for Middletown and nudges their season record down to 6-6. As for Saratoga Springs, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.

Middletown does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Saratoga Springs, they will challenge Mamaroneck at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Tigers' defense has only allowed 10.7 points per game this season, so the Blue Streaks' offense will have their work cut out for them.
