Recap: Mathis Pirates vs. London Pirates
Friday just wasn't the day for The Mathis Pirates''s offense. They took a serious blow against London, falling 28-0. The matchup was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but Mathis couldn't answer the 28 points London scored afterwards.
When it comes to explaining why Mathis lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ethan Ybarra. Despite the final result, he rushed for 92 yards on only eight carries.
This is the second loss in a row for Mathis and nudges their season record down to 3-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-2-1 Edna (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 65.9% over those games). As for London, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Mathis does not have any more games scheduled as of now. London will square off against San Diego at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. San Diego will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
