Baseball Recap: Agoura Comes Up Short

Agoura was the 4-3 winner over Newbury Park when they last played one another on Thursday, but their luck changed this time around. The Chargers took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers on Friday. Surprisingly, this marked the sixth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

Agoura saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nathan Moran, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Agoura has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-9 record this season. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 12-6 Calabasas (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 62.9% over those games). As for Newbury Park, they pushed their record up to 13-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Agoura will face off against rival Oaks Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Chargers 3.2, the Lions 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Newbury Park is set to challenge their familiar foe Calabasas at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
