Baseball Recap: Linn Takes a Loss

Linn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the South Callaway Bulldogs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 13-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Gus Peters was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.1 innings pitched. Peters was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Austin Dudenhoeffer was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. Tryten Reynolds was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-5.

Linn's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for South Callaway, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-6.

Looking ahead, South Callaway will take on Montgomery County at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Linn will be paying especially close attention to the Bulldogs' game: after the Bulldogs faces off against St. Elizabeth, they'll take on Linn again at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
