Baseball Recap: Valley Forge Comes Up Short

Valley Forge extended their losing streak to nine on Friday, dropping their season record down to 3-12 in the process. They came up short against the Normandy Invaders, falling 10-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Invaders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 on Wednesday.

Valley Forge saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Myles Wisniewski, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

As for Normandy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-12. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games.

On Normandy's side, Dillon Vargo tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts Vargo has posted since back in April.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lukas Steele, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Andrew Sikon, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Valley Forge will challenge Rhodes at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season. As for Normandy, they will take on Holy Name at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
