Softball Game Preview: Michigan Center Cardinals vs. Columbia Central Golden Eagles

The Michigan Center Cardinals are taking a road trip to take on the Columbia Central Golden Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Michigan Center will be strutting in after a win while Columbia Central will be coming in after a defeat.

On Friday, Michigan Center made easy work of Vandercook Lake and carried off a 16-1 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Cardinals' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Meanwhile, Columbia Central didn't have quite enough to beat Howell on Saturday and fell 8-7. The Golden Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Hailey Wetherby spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Rylee Knapp was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kelsey Fausz, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

The win got Michigan Center back to even at 7-7. As for Columbia Central, their loss dropped their record down to 11-2.
