Softball Recap: Taylor's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Taylor extended their winning streak to three on Monday, bumping their season record up to 14-9 in the process. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Seabreeze Sandcrabs. Seven seems to be a good number for the Wildcats as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Savannah Pearson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Taylor got a massive performance out of Taylor Lane, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits Lane has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Amya Ramos, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Taylor kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 10-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

As for Seabreeze, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season. They just can't catch a break and have now endured five losses in a row.

On Seabreeze's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caylee Little, who went 3-for-4 with one run.

Taylor and Seabreeze are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Wildcats will face off against Umatilla at 6:00 p.m. on the 29th. Taylor's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Seabreeze, they will head out on the road to face off against New Smyrna Beach at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Barracudas have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.31 runs per game on average), something the Sandcrabs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
