Preview: Fort Collins Lambkins vs. Boulder Panthers
The Fort Collins Lambkins will head out on the road to square off against the Boulder Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort Collins has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 481 points over their last seven matches.
Fort Collins scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They took down Broomfield 90-71. The victory was all the more spectacular given Fort Collins' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 137th, while Broomfield is ranked 22nd).
It was another big night for Jayce King, who scored 40 points. That makes it ten consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Fort Collins' points. Marcel Herrera was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, Boulder's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 69-32 defeat at the hands of Fossil Ridge. Boulder has struggled against Fossil Ridge recently, as their contest on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
The win got Fort Collins back to even at 5-5. As for Boulder, their loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 4-6.
Fort Collins beat Boulder 74-65 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fort Collins since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
