Softball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Lexington's Eighth in Last Ten Outings

While Lexington's victory against Thrall wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles' pitcher stepped up to hand the Tigers a 2-0 shutout on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since February 21st.

Not much got past Taylor Akin, who gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Thrall off the board. Akin has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lexington's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Avery Rodriguez, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. Another was Kendall Gural, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Lexington is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Thrall, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-11.

Lexington will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Tigers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
