Cypress Bay is 9-1 against Flanagan since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Cypress Bay Lightning will take on the Flanagan Falcons at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Cypress Bay's win against South Plantation wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Cypress Bay sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over South Plantation on Thursday. The Lightning haven't had any issues with the Paladins recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Lexi Groenendijk was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one triple. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Allena Dinneen, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Teresa Foschia was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Flanagan). They blew past Miramar 19-4 on Wednesday.
Like Cypress Bay, Flanagan also got a great game from a two-way player: Jurnee Bent. She struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only one hit. With that strong performance, Bent is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs.
In other batting news, Emily Arias was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Amy Chacko, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Flanagan's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-3. As for Cypress Bay, their record now sits at 2-4.
Everything went Cypress Bay's way against Flanagan in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Cypress Bay made off with a 16-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cypress Bay since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
