Basketball Recap: Metter Comes Up Short

Metter has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 66-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Screven County Gamecocks on Thursday. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Gamecocks earlier this season, when they won 65-52.

Leading Screven County to victory were Jaliah Roberts and Achanti Middleton. Roberts posted 27 points along with eight rebounds and four steals, while Middleton had 19 points in addition to six boards and five steals. Roberts' afternoon made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Jackson, who put up ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Metter's defeat dropped their record down to 17-5. As for Screven County, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.

As of now, neither Metter nor Screven County have any future games scheduled.
