Football Recap: Borrego Springs Takes Down Julian in a Playoff Battle

Borrego Springs had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past the Julian Eagles 55-14 on Friday. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Christopher Alcaraz had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 211 yards and six TDs while completing 82.4% of his passes, and also rushing for 70 yards and one touchdown on only six carries. What's more, he racked up 162 passer rating, the most he's had since back in August. Josef Rocha was in the mix as well, providing Borrego Springs with two scores.

Borrego Springs didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Preston Sexton and Rocha. Rocha is on a roll when it comes to receiving touchdowns, as he's now hauled in two or more in each of the last three games he's played.

The victory (which was Borrego Springs' fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.0 points over those games. As for Julian, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 7-4 record.

Coming up, Borrego Springs will square off against St. Joseph Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Crusaders' defense has only allowed 14.3 points per game this season, so the Rams' offense will have their work cut out for them. Julian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
