Softball Recap: Independence Wildcats vs. Strayhorn Mustangs

Independence won the last time they faced Strayhorn, and things went their way on Thursday too. The Independence Wildcats walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Strayhorn Mustangs. That's two games straight that Independence has won by exactly three runs.

Independence got a great performance from Irelynn Chambers as she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off ten hits. Chambers has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in three consecutive pitching appearances.

On the hitting side, Kamiyah Stephens was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Madysen Cathey, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a double.
