Basketball Recap: Mother McAuley Takes a Loss

Mother McAuley lost against Loyola Academy two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Mother McAuley Mighty Macs were beaten by the Loyola Academy Ramblers 72-44. While losing is never fun, the Mighty Macs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while the Ramblers are ranked eighth).

Mother McAuley lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Olivia Brown, who posted six points and five rebounds. Katherine Sexton was another key player, putting up eight points.

Mother McAuley's defeat dropped their record down to 16-11. As for Loyola Academy, they pushed their record up to 27-2 with the victory, which was their 31st straight at home dating back to last season.

Mother McAuley will take on Montini Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mother McAuley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.7 points per game this season. As for Loyola Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge Providence Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Loyola Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 14 contests.
